Since it’s founding in 1993, Orange rose to become a world player in mobile telecommunications products and services. Prior to phasing into EE in 2015, Orange was instrumental in launching new phone products, one of which was to present Quantum 4 with a project that was amongst our most challenging to date.
What Orange wanted
Orange were preparing to launch one of their most exciting products ever – the Orange iPhone – destined to become a major hit with UK customers. They were looking for an experienced fixture design company that could install the scheme in record time.
What Q4 created
At the time, Orange operated a retail estate of around 300 stores, branded as ‘The Orange Shop’. In helping to launch the iPhone, Q4 supplied equipment design and development, as well as prototyping and establishing a pilot store. We then went on to install in a further 93 trial stores.
What we achieved
After the failure of two other design agencies to deliver an acceptable solution for Orange, they commissioned Q4 to carry out the work. We installed all the units in just two nights, with only one store requiring a snagging visit. Overall, the project took less than six weeks from brief to completion. The Orange iPhone was successfully launched – easily breaking the first day sales record.
What they said
“Congratulations on a job well done! This project was fast paced with a very short time line from instruction to delivery, and yet you still managed to deliver the quality standards and value that Orange expect. The work you have completed has enabled Orange to achieve the biggest phone launch ever in the UK.” Sarah Lipscomb Orange Programme Manager
