Dame Anita Roddick founded the behemoth that is The Body Shop way back in 1976. Her cosmetic and beauty product business now has over 3,000 stores in 66 countries. Her original ethos still stands: to bring a unique blend of ethical beauty with a sense of humour and serious purpose to the world. Quantum 4 have helped them to continue to realise the dream of using the business as a force for good.
What The Body Shop wanted
The Body Shop asked Q4 to help them develop their ‘Shop Me’ and ‘Make Me’ retail concepts in 26 trial stores across ten countries. They needed a complete package comprising concept origination, equipment design, development and prototyping. A store trial programme was to be rolled out, complete with tender packs capable of being used by suppliers at various locations around the world.
What Q4 created
We provided all our design proposals based on a single BSI concept sketch. A full family of trial fixtures had to be created to encompass perimeter, centre floor gondolas, cash desks and bespoke product displays. We made judicious use of mixed-material fabrication, including wood, metals, hemp back panels and plastics to give the fixtures a contemporary image to appeal to the Body Shop target audience.
What we achieved
We specified value-engineered solutions prior to successfully tendering internationally. Q4 also offered technical and commercial support during post-tender assessment and achieved a better concept in terms of flexibility, style and function, but at a lower than target price.
