A Day In The Life of Our Head of Projects

At Quantum4, we offer strategic design partnerships to some of the world’s leading brands and retailers. Whether it is a brand refresh, new product launch or managing a complex tender programme, we work to deliver the best value for your company. From invention, design and prototype all the way through installation of the display equipment, our specialist team enables us to create a global reach. Yet, this wouldn’t be possible without our local team.

We have created our ‘A Day in the Life’ series to provide an insight on how our team provides global results.

Today, we take a look into a day in the life of our Head of Projects, Mark Taylor.

1. What does a typical day at Q4 entail?

Every day starts with a good coffee! I’m lucky I live close to the the office, so it doesn’t take me long to get in and start catching up with my team. Having daily catchups with the Project Management team is important to me, making sure everyone is equipped with what they need to tackle the day ahead. Usually, the day consists of me working my way through my to-do list, but inevitably there are many urgent tasks that must be dealt with asap, so they jump the queue.

When I leave the office, I head home to enjoy the evening with my family.

2. How did you get into the retail design industry?

I worked for a manufacturing company for 6 years, I then trained and progressed within the company to design and production planning for another 4 years. I then advanced and moved to a retail design agency; it was an exciting transition to move into retail design/ POS. Having a manufacturing background certainly helps with the design process. I have worked and been involved with retail shop fitting, and store displays for over 17 years, working in a variety of sectors designing and implementing technology displays to perfumery and cosmetics displays and everything in between.

3. Are there any specific projects that have stood out for you/ especially proud of?

I am particularly proud of the work we’ve been involved in with Sky. Over the past 2 years we have completed an array of projects including 20 full store fit outs across the UK, Ireland and Germany, 72 Gondolas and 31 wall displays manufactured in Turkey and installed in Italy, an in-shop store in Germany and finally manufactured 108 displays for a UK roll out. It’s been non-stop, incredibly fast-paced, and an ever evolving, awesome project to be a part of.

4. What do you love about working at Q4??

The team is what makes Q4. I’m proud to work with an outstanding, driven team of individuals that excel in their individual skill set; it’s a great feeling to be part of an awesome team. I also enjoy the fast-paced nature of the projects I work on and that are delivered by the team.

5. What one headline about the retail industry would you like to see this year?

‘The rise of in-person shopping outweighs online.’
